Lounging with Lala
So now that I have all of this real-life experience as a Mommy {ahem, all of 18 months}, I have decided to branch out into the world of crafting.
The problem is that I sit home at night, looking at that wonderfully addicting website Pinterest, and seeing what all of these amazingly talented people out there are doing & making {sidenote: I must admit that I did start by asking Amy what “P-interest” was all about. In true sisterly fashion, she informed me that it is, indeed, pronounced “pin-terest”}.
But I digress.
After putting Cousin M to bed, I think about all of the wonderful dinners I’m going to make & all of the fun craft projects we’re going to do together.
And then I remember my reality: I’m a working mom, 7.5 months pregnant with a very busy 18-month-old who doesn’t love her naps right now.
I was having one of those frustrating reality-check moments when I happened upon a pin for fun & easy crafts for toddlers {you can find it on CountingKisses Crafting with the Kiddos Pinterest board}.
Hello~ right up my alley! In this two-part series {two parts because these crafts are THAT fun and awesome!}, I will show you how 20 minutes of your time can make a couple super fun, easy AND {dare I say it?} educational toys for your kiddos!
Craft #1: Box-O-Colors

I am hoping & praying that I’m not the only Mommy out there who, during a diaper change, will say:
Please stop pulling the wipes out!
Okay, I think that’s enough wipes for now, sweetie.
Or: can you please give Mommy a few of those to help clean up?
By the same token, Cousin M has also recently found the Kleenex boxes in our house. I’m still not sure how she can reach them, but she does~ and as with the wipes, she needs at least 20 of them for her little nose that is soooo stuffy. So as you can imagine, when I came upon this craft project, I thought it would be perfect for our little tissue-and-baby-wipes stealer.
What you need:
~ Empty tissue box
~ rainbow colored felt
~ sharp scissors

Let’s get started!
1. Pick a piece of colored felt, fold it in half & cut it {use a ruler if you can’t cut straight!}.

2. Cut the half into another half.

3. Repeat for each piece of colored felt.

4. Now for the super hard part: stuff all of those pieces into your tissue box.

5. Voila! Box-o-colors for your little one to enjoy!

When Cousin M woke up the next morning, she had a super fun surprise. M was pumped she had her own box of tissues to play with {and so was Mommy!}.

We are also using her Box-o-colors to work on her colors.

Fun & educational~ who could ask for more?!

Stay tuned next week for part two of Lala’s crafting series~ up next, fun with pipe cleaners!
Counting My Kisses: Such an awesome post, Lala! Thanks so much for sharing with us. I can’t wait to make a Box-o-color for H-Berry, I know she’ll absolutely love it. I’m also 100% Big Sis O will be more than happy to help H-Berry with her colors this year!
Have a great day!
