5 Reasons to Travel to Greece {Listable Life}

Today’s link-up with the Moments that Define Life blog is all sorts of fabulous. I know, I know~ is that even possible after last week’s epic Fashion Trend Fails post?

It is, friends. Today’s Listable Life topic is…

5 Reasons Traveling to _____ is a MUST.

And the place I picked? Greece. Because really, you must go there.

I’m so excited I can hardly stand it. Let’s get started, shall we?

1. History

A little background on the Hubs & I: we love to vacation. But our ideas of what defines a vacation differ. My version is a beach, the hot sunshine & a whole bunch of fantastic books loaded onto my Kindle. The Hubs’ version of vacation is exploring, eating lots of local food & more exploring.

Luckily, when we planned our trip to Greece, we scheduled in a nice balance of both. Initially, I couldn’t wait to get to the beach part of our vacation~ but then we arrived in Athens.

And it was amazing

The history of that city is absolutely incredible. It’s gorgeous; it’s ancient & modern all at the same time. To say we loved it is an understatement~ I would go back to Athens in a heartbeat!

2. The Food

Oh my goodness. The food was all sorts of amazing. In addition to Athens, our 12-day vacation included Naxos, Santorini {my favorite place on earth} and Crete. Which meant we had a whole lot of insanely delicious meals

And let’s not forget the tasty beer…

ice cream…

and wine.

Yum!

3. The volcano

It’s pretty amazing to say that we’ve climbed a volcano. Add in the fact that we climbed a volcano in Greece and it’s hard not to feel super cool about the whole thing.

When we were in Santorini, we took a day trip out on the caldera. We hiked up an active volcano, swam in hot springs & ate {more food, what a surprise!} a fresh & tasty meal at a local seaside tavern.

Definitely one of my favorite vacation days ever

So much fun. Especially since I have zero plans to climb a volcano anytime in the  near future!

4. The sunsets

Pure gorgeousness. Like, makes your heart sing with happiness beautiful.

Incredible.

5. The Beaches

I love a good beach. And Naxos and Crete were full of amazingly sunny, sandy beaches for us to kick back & unwind. It made me an extremely happy girl.

The sand was soft, the sun was hot and the beaches were nice and quiet {at least they were in early September 2008 when we were visiting!}.

We love, love LOVE this amazing country!

Counting My Kisses: There are so many amazing reasons to visit Greece~ this place holds an incredibly special place in my heart. I’m hoping that all of the unrest over there in recent years hasn’t affected their tourism too much, because it is such a gorgeous country with such lovely, friendly people. It was a perfect trip for the Hubs & I, and we can’t wait to go back one day with our girls!

Well now I have to add something else to my bucket list! And here I thought Italy would do it for me. But…Greece isn't too far away, I suppose I could make it a lengthy European vacation! :-) Thanks for linking up today! I'm loving all of your lists!

I've always wanted to go to Greece. Your hubs sounds a lot like my husband, he loves the exploring and I love the beaches.

I think you should just extend that Italy vacay another week or two so you can add Greece to the list! Seriously amazing, we LOVED our trip there. :) Thanks for stopping by, I'm loving the Listable Life as well!

Yes! It sounds like they are definitely the same. I'm good with exploring as long as we build in ample beach time as well. :) The Hubs has been known to wander off for a few hours on his own while I read & relax in the sun~ everyone should be happy on vacay, right? :) I LOVED your Aruba list as well, that has been added to our Must Visit list. Thanks for stopping by!
