As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, my parents & brother were here for the holiday weekend.
That meant lots of extra laughter, quality time with the girls, extra sleeping in for the Hubs & I {yay!}, a few extra sets of hands with diaper changes, mealtime, bathtime and everything in between.
AND…
another organization project for my fabulous father.
You thought we were finished after the pantry overhaul? Ha. Our back hall closet has been begging us to get my dad back into town.
Check out this monster:

I know, I know. Horrible.
In all fairness, we’ve never really had a purpose for this closet, which means it has become a dumping ground for assorted shoes, chair cushions, coats, mops, hats, mittens, old purses and who knows what else.
Luckily, my dad, Seakski & the Hubs were up to the challenge. Two trips to Lowe’s later, they had a vision and they were going to make it happen.
Of course, you have to make a mess to clean a mess sometimes, and that was definitely the case with this closet.

Yikes.
But before long {as in, when my mom & I got home from shopping}, the boys had made a serious dent in this challenge. Things were looking up.

The next day, I was presented a brand-new, beautifully organized back closet. The decision was made to take the door permanently off, which I love– now it’s so open & easy to access. Plus, it helps me suppress my desire to shove everything into that closet, shut the door and forget about it. Not like that happens a lot or anything.
Anyway, check out the finished product:

Love it!
I especially love that the boys spent extra time securing the shelves to the wall, so in the event that little hands or feet try to climb on it, the shelves will stay attached to the wall. Thanks for thinking ahead, guys!
And thanks for making this closet something that now makes me smile each time I see it, instead of cringe. It’s awesome to have such a functional space that we can finally utilize. Plus, we can teach the girls to put things in their cubbies as well. Win win!
So Dad, any idea when you’ll be coming back for another visit? My bedroom closet could use some of your magic organizational skills…
Counting My Kisses: I’m so thankful for our redesigned closet! It looks great, and I’m determined to keep it clean and organized {sidenote: the pantry is still looking stellar, in case you were wondering}. I’m so appreciative to my Dad, Sean & the Hubs for creating this vision & working hard to make it a reality! You guys are the best.
